Vincent Abadie Hafez Aka Zepha
ZEPHA
Vincent Abadie Hafez

Vincent Abadie Hafez
Born in 1977.
Lives and works between Paris and Toulouse / France
Cosmopolitan, the work of Vincent Abadie Hafez is the result of interbreeding, the confluence of several cultures.
In 1989 it was under the pseudonym Zepha that invests in the graffiti movement. It is a suburb of Paris that he began to impose his name and that of his team the GAP since it will not stop ...
He appropriates public space and disrupts visual habits: a graphic utopian fight undertakes against a system guided by a man-eating wild liberalism and his « enfant terrible » : advertising.
In parallel to a street writing work Vincent Abadie Hafez developed a graphic and visual language based on movement, through which intersect the influence of the craftsmanship of ancient civilizations, calligraphy, the immediacy of the movement Figuration Libre, the spontaneity of the Lyrical Abstraction, and finally taking risks random graffiti.
Arabic calligraphy strongly influence his work through his meeting with the Moroccan Abdelatif Mustad calligraphe and the discovery of the Sudanese Ahmed Abdel Aal’s work.
With the Kufic style and lively Diwani style, he finds the work of composition, balance of letters and gestures own by graffiti.
A singular graphic vocabulary form showing a balance of instinctive line and thoughtful composition, as with basic research: the letter .What is Latin or Arabic, it is distorted, diverted, connected, mixed, accumulated, leading to a form of dreamlike and labyrinthine writing.
Contrasts, oppositions and complementarity enrich a production of works produced in multiple formats , worn out by time, memory carriers, the result of a questioning of this world seem to forget the very principles of its existence ...
